Tickets available Listen to MP3 The Gig Cartel presents
John Cooper Clarke
The original punk poet; The Bard; The Salford Stick Insect; the name behind the hairstyle; and a bitterly accurate commentator on (mostly) Northern life for over thirty years. Classic tracks Evidently Chickentown (featured on The Sopranos), Hire Car, Kung Fu International, I Married A Monster From Outer Space, Health Fanatic, The Day My Pad Went Mad – are all pure nuggets of observational genius and a style which has become a template for most alternative comedy of the last twenty years. And it won't come as any surprise to know that Alex Turner and Reverend And The Makers are both huge fans. Witheringly funny, deadly accurate, reassuringly human and highly recommended!!   Tickets available Listen to MP3 Dorien Starre + Paris Commune + The Berettas
Imagine Hot Hot Heat if they grew up in Leeds, knew how to DJ vinyl, and borrowed Zepp's backline … this is proper rock music! Epic, loud and danceable! Think 70s T-Rex, Cream and Bowie on tour with We are Scientists and Futureheads. ID IS ESSENTIAL!! Click here to read our rules.

They're not a girl; they're a band, OK? And their devotion to Syd Barrett's whimsical and clunky psychedelia worldview stops exactly where it should ie they haven't actually gone mad. So dive in to a nocturnal, feverish, hallucinatory experience from the Italian psychedelic avant-pop explorers of some forgotten amusement park at midnight with tight, visionary tales of the mysterious and the grotesque; all otherworldly images of gas-lit street corners, abandoned theatres, labyrinthine corridors. It's weird, OK? Listen up, fans of Flaming Lips, Ariel Pink, Gorky's and, of course, early Floyd. And see Emily play, again. Recommended! ID IS ESSENTIAL!! Click here to read our rules.

Tickets available Books / CDs available Listen to MP3 Terry Reid + Frank Hamilton
If you've never heard of Terry Reid, go ask some old guy with a faraway look in his eyes. Whisper ' Superlungs', 'Silver White Light', 'May Fly', 'Rich Kid Blues' and watch him get up and start shaking parts that haven't been shaken recently. Having had to turn down the singing job in both Zeppelin and Deep Purple, he went on to work with the likes of Jackson Browne, Don Henley, Linda Ronstadt and Joe Walsh, to say nothing of assorted superstars like Robert Plant, Keith Richards and Roger Daltrey getting up to jam in recent years. Breathtaking lyrically, and with a velvet and sandpaper voice combining Stewart, Cocker and Winwood, Mojo said recently ". one of the greatest voices in British rock". Highly recommended!!   Tickets available Books / CDs available Listen to MP3 Jesse Malin + Dave Bielanko (Marah)
On the eve of releasing a covers album but still rooted in the grimy underbelly of New York familiar to the Ramones or Popeye Doyle in The French Connection. Jesse has the hardcore credentials (Heart Attack, D-Generation), the ability to write songs The Boss would be jealous of and a voice so wracked with emotion it can bring you to your knees. Think Petty, Young and Earle. An incurable romantic, his songs are stuffed with longing and regret and you get the feeling Malin has not been anywhere near as lucky as Kylie. What more can you ask from for an old crusty school punk with a soul? ID IS ESSENTIAL!! Click here to read our rules.

Tickets available Books / CDs available Listen to MP3 Cancer Bats + Johnny Truant + Hexes
Toronto-based since 2004 and formed by singer Liam Cormier and guitarist Scott Middleton in 2004; this is Refused, Black Flag and Zepp all rolled up in one burning desire to rage harder, play louder and have more fun than any other band! It's a lethal hardcore, southern metal and punk explosion. It's Mighty Taco, fried chicken and cheap breakfast. But most of all, it's good ol' punk and it's coming to York ... ID IS ESSENTIAL!!   Tickets available Books / CDs available Posters available The Complete Stone Roses
You want the Stone Roses? You're 10 years too late! But if you want to re-live the groove, the experience, the vibe that was and still is - take in The Complete Stone Roses, an amazingly authentic show and one of our most requested return acts. They've even turned up with Mani who says, "They're a good little band, the first time I saw them it was quite weird, but I think they're doing the songs justice. They're good players first and foremost - they're not fakers.... Tonight they sounded better than we did before we split." close your eyes and you're nearly there. ID IS ESSENTIAL!!   Tickets available Books / CDs available Listen to MP3 The BossHoss + Boss Caine
A world of bar room brawls, campfire tales and tough but tender cowboys. From the Wild Wild West comes a sound that's old yet somehow new with some highly original versions of familiar tunes written for 'mainstream' artists (including Britney's Toxic and the White Stripe's Seven Nation Army) to help you acquire a taste in sweet old time music. The Stallion Battalion is headin' out on the trail and set to swagger into our l'il 'ole town with internashville urban hymns! Yee, and furthermore, haw!! ID IS ESSENTIAL!!
