Self-funding their debut record and seeing it hit the record store top 40, hiring and selling out venues off their own back and breaking out to national radio sessions and mainstream UK festivals.

Yes, GLASS CAVES have had a year that has seen them start from busking in cities across the UK to selling out most of their debut album tour, with self-funded album ‘Alive’ making the Record Store Top 40 on week of release.

Single ‘Breaking Out’ features a mix by Tim Palmer (U2, Pearl Jam, Bowie) who found Glass Caves whilst stationed in his studio in Austin, Texas and became an instant supporter of the band complimenting the ambition and heartfelt delivery in their music.

Fittingly ‘Breaking Out’ is soaked with ambition and longing for a better existence. The theme wasn’t lost on Radio 2’s Dermot O’Leary who invited the band in for a session whilst Janice Long at the same station played the single 4 weeks in a row.

A play from XFM’s Danielle Perry followed and after packing out a series of national ‘This Feeling’ nights the band will appear at Isle of Wight festival on the Jack Daniels/This Feeling stage this summer, as well as Dot to Dot and Newcastle’s ‘Evolution Emerging’ festival.

The album ‘Alive’ is produced by Rich Turvey – also behind the mixing desk for Darlia (one of Zane Lowe hottest tracks of the year) and rising stars The Mispers and Blossoms. The record catalogues this restlessly active band’s increasing ambitions as they are adopted by growing audiences in cities they frequent playing on the streets.

The result is a grand statement of intent with bombastic choruses interspersing more subtle references to concerns of the heart and spirit.
