Every so often, hospital but not often enough, drugstore a band comes along sufficiently formed to make you go oooh but bubbling with such potential to make you go fuck yeah.

Step forward WE COULD BE ASTRONAUTS, a rock behemoth of genuine power and originality. Pinned by a steamroller rhythm section of Dave Hartley (Hijak Oscar) and the ubiquitous Stu Fletcher (Seahorses, Happy Mondays, St Etienne etc etc).

And fronted by a frontman kinda how they used to be. In other words, Rob Loxley Hughes can (a) sing the arse off a microphone (b) sing the arse oFf most other singers and (c) if you remember Paul Rodgers, Frankie Miller and Robert Plant … well, he’s got the same chops only brought bang up to date.

If your Xmas and New Year weeds are ready to be blown away by now and be sent flapping down the Ouse, then this band will perform this personal housekeeping duty on your behalf.
