It’s been almost a decade since York’s own BETH McCARTHY burst onto the local music scene and the city has watched her grow ever since.
Now 21 years young, Beth has spent over half of her life on stage – touring the UK with her acoustic guitar (and her dad), sharing her stories and building a devoted fanbase.
In 2014, at just 16 years old, she became a household name after appearing on Series 3 of BBC television show ‘The Voice UK’ with over 10 million people viewing her blind audition.
Since, the Yorkshire songstress has found success in numerous charting releases, a performance on award winning US cable TV show ‘JBTV’, and a feature on the official soundtrack for the film ‘100 Streets’ starring Idris Elba.
Beth’s unparalleled energy and positivity is infectious and addictive. Her journey as an artist thus far has been about harnessing this strength and channeling it by creating music which represents her savor sonically as well as touching on delicate subjects.
Over the last year, Beth has been experimenting with both her sound and image alluding to her debut release ‘Shame’. With a fresh run of releases akin to the vivacity of Sigrid meets Dua Lipa, Beth will finally be out in the world, bushy-tailed and assured, eager to perform stunningly crafted sets – encompassing the subtle moments of exposed emotional vocals to full-power pop.
This show at Fibbers will see the first full band performance of Beth’s new material and the official release of her debut EP ‘Self Portrait’ – something you definitely don’t want to miss.
