It is both difficult and easy to write about HOPE & SOCIAL.

Difficult because this is such an active band, involved in all manner of projects both individually and as a unit, musically AND socially with a huge fan base. Triumphing recently with The Tour Of Infinite Possibility and, before that, Bring The Happy, the Our Dancing Days album (AWESOME – BUY IT!), A Band Anyone Can Join and so much much more. It’s bloody hard to keep up!

Easy because the words come tumbling out. There is no need to copy and paste a glib and self-congratulating PR sheet, because everything to say comes straight from the heart.

Lots of bands think ‘getting involved’ means opening a Twitter account or amassing Facebook followers. Hope & Social made the conscious decision to actually get in amongst actual people and revolve around a whole heap of activities – a course of action winning them fans worldwide that will stay with them forever.

And one day all bands will be made like this.

Innovative, diverse, brilliantly talented and so in love with constructing delicately muscular tunes. And a live music lesson in life, also, in how to build, engage and keep a huge and loyal fan base without meaningless hype, empty promises and stolen ideas.

Yup, a music that is peerless and timeless, a bloody great big mass of glorious noise ring-fenced by comsummate musicianship, relentless enthusiasm and big grins.

Yeah, look around that audience hanging on every word. every aside, smiling like fools, singing their heads off.

Hope&Social want the sound of classic albums, brought up to date. Albums which were a call-to-arms, and part lament penned with measured guitar and lush harmony.

Sieved from drunken rants, they sing of Englishness and home and what it means. Of simplicity and custom, and of God.

‘If it feels good turn it up’ / Fender Champ / a long list of drum fills / a child’s accordion…

Their latest album is called All Our Dancing Days. Its brilliant. Buy it and come and see them live. You’ll have so much fun and your heart will soar.
