Y’know what, maybe just maybe there’s another young guitar band revolution coming along. It’s been a while and bloody hell do we need one or what. Among the first in that queue for the tour bus are PART TIME MISERABLES one of our favourite locals distilling the early spit of punk with mid-2000s guitar thrash and, yes, TUNES. You’ve probably already caught them here with top touring acts Ming City Rockers and Vant and here’s their first top slot in the top venue.
BLOODY MANGO were, frankly, just a little bit special on their debut here with The Last Vegas and punky chanteuse Azia Carlyle caught us all on our heels with a spot-on update of Siouxsie Sioux (look her up, kids, she was there at the start). Folks – stop talking about liking punk (“Yeah dude, I’m really, like, in to my punk blah blah blah”) and come and actually see it.
Debut shows here for two ace little outfits, first up THE RECEIVERS with Nick Aldous, Alex Higginson, Harry Stables & Louis Bristowe and their indie take on pop and psychedelia. Their profile pic shows them in a restricted parking area somewhere, half of them happy half of them not. Love a bit of creative tension, lads – looking forward to the show.
And lastly but not least, York Uni band THE REGIME listing their likes as Libertines, Strokes, Smiths, Clash, Oasis, Stone Roses & Nirvana. And band interests as ‘Losing Plectrums and Breaking Strings’. Better have some chat ready between songs then, lads. On stage 8pm so rock up early for a bit of sneery, upfront, in-yer-face. ‘Hit The Ground’ here.
